The idea of building the Solid Gold Guitars Ukulele came from our company President, Jim Scott, showing me a video of a Country Musician play an electric mandolin in the shape of a modified Gibson Firebird just scaled down to the size of a mandolin. In discussing this instrument, the idea arose for an Electric Ukulele with the similar shape but adding mini humbucker pickups and using steel strings instead of the usual nylon ukulele strings. Designing the body and working up the electronics was the easy part. The next part of the project was the 4 different styles of necks but as luck would have it I found a USA supplier in Florida who made the necks I would need and rest was history the SGG Ukulele was born.
We offer 5 models of electric ukulele in our standard line. Each of these has different bodies/styles, electronics, hardware, etc. We can also design an electric guitar to your design requirements.
